Can I ride in a balloon?
Yes, weather permitting, the Festival offers tether rides with a professional balloonist in the basket under the balloon, allowing up to 6 people at a time to get a small taste of ballooning. The balloon is tied to the ground with tether ropes about 100 feet long. The rides last about 5 minutes. Tickets cost $20 per adult and $15 per child (ages 6-17). Children under 6 are free, but adults cannot carry children in their arms. This is a great way to float peacefully above the festival and see a great deal of the Rockwall area!
Is the Festival accessible to the Handicapped?
Yes, the Festival reserves the areas closest to the festival admission gates for vehicles displaying the proper handicapped parking tags. The main pedestrian thoroughfares are paved surfaces, and easily traversed by wheelchairs, people with walkers, etc. However, a number of important attractions can only be reached by traveling over stretches of grassy fields. If the ground is saturated with rain, it can make the going a little bit slow.
There is handicapped parking in the west lot at May Vernon Elementary School. Those wishing to park there must enter through the west gate in Woodcreek. No vehicles will allowed to enter from the east entrance.
Can I Bring Chairs or Blankets?
Can I Bring a cooler, food or drinks?
No, coolers, drinks and food are not allowed to be brought into the festival because food vendors and local non-profit organizations are selling food to raise funds for the Festival and Rockwall County non-profit organizations.
Can I bring a pet?
No, pets become very anxious and agitated by the high pitched sound the balloon burners make as they inflate and launch. Therefore only service dogs are allowed on festival grounds. The work a dog has been trained to do must be directly related to the person’s disability.
Which hotels are located in Rockwall?
The Holiday Inn Express in Royse City is our host hotel and a co-sponsor of the Festival.
There are seven other fine hotels in Rockwall County within minutes of the Festival: Best Western Plus Hotel, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton Dallas/Rockwall Lakefront, Inn of Rockwall, La Quinta Inn and Value Place.
